Thanks to Netflix and streaming services, we have unlimited access to watch shows that are no longer on television. However, it’s important not to forget about all of the current content that is out today. We are truly in the prime of TV with the production of show after show proving to be better than the previous. I’ve recently started watching History Channel’s new military drama, SIX, and I highly recommend it.

SIX just began its first season on January 18th, and aired its fourth episode this past Wednesday. The show chronicles the lives of members of the infamous SEAL Team Six, one of the most elite components of the United States Navy, as they work to protect the United States of America from terrorism.

The show’s prime focus remains on four members of the team of six as they struggle to balance their personal lives with the intense demands of their work and the brutal reality they must live each day. SIX begins with this very close knit group of men on a mission to eliminate a Taliban leader. The mission, led by troop leader Richard “Rip” Taggart (Walton Goggins), takes a wrong turn when the men encounter an American man working amongst the terrorist group, and the decisions that are made tear the men apart from their beloved and respected brother, Rip. Two years later, Rip is captured by the terrorist organization, Boko Haram, and his former team must band together to rescue him before it’s too late.

SIX features a group of highly talented actors that were given the privilege of representing the lives of these true American heroes. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Walton Goggins as an actor, you need to get familiar with him ASAP. There are several actors that I consider to be solid gold because they are just that good and he is one of them. Goggins has starred in shows such as The Shield, Justified, Sons of Anarchy (he played a transgender woman!!), as well as many Hollywood films, such as Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight. In addition, he currently stars in the HBO comedy, Vice Principals, which will return for its second season this summer. His versatility and commitment to the roles he plays make him a force to be reckoned with and cement him as an actor who takes risks and impresses with his raw talent. I absolutely love him as an actor and I watch every single thing that he is in. He is excellent. At the very least, SIX is worth it just to see him in action.

Inspired by real life missions, SIX showcases the hardships and heroism of true American soldiers. It is about brotherhood, loyalty, and one’s undying commitment to protect the great nation of the United States. It comes at a perfect time when America currently faces challenges of hatred and division, reminding us of the men and women of the armed forces who risk their lives for us every day so that we maintain our freedom in this great country that we live in. I for one am grateful and proud that these heroes are being represented on television. SIX airs Wednesdays at 10 PM on History Channel. Watch it.
